Silky smooth bare skin post-wax is yours for the taking if you follow these 3 simple steps.
1. Exfoliate. Beginning the day after your wax, use a dry loofah to gently exfoliate the uppermost layer of skin before stepping into the shower. Do this every day to prevent painful ingrown hairs.
2. Moisturize. It may seem especially odd to slather lotion on your lady garden, but skin is skin, and waxed areas in particular are prime targets for getting dry, cracked or rough. Keeping your skin moisturized prolongs your wax by keeping your skin smooth and supple. It also prevents ingrowns because hair is better able to penetrate a nourished epidermal layer. Finally, moisturized skin means softer hair which results in less breakage when getting waxed, which means even smoother skin post-wax. It’s a virtuous circle of beauty.
3. Keep to a regular waxing schedule. Waxing targets hair in the anagen phase, which is the growth phase of hair. Waxing regularly ensures we remove hair at this growth stage, resulting in finer and finer regrowth down the road. It’s important that you don’t shave in between waxes either. For your first few waxes, stick to a once every 4 week schedule, after which you should be able to go to once every 5 to 6 weeks.
